The next day, we went hiking in Kielder Forest, which is in Northern England. It is home to Europe's largest man-made lake, and England's largest forest. It felt somewhat strange, as we were walking along, I felt like I was home in Canada.
On the road to Kielder Forest, Jenn captured a few interesting pics. This lone building could almost be a symbol of Canada; we have so many lone barns, houses, trees in the middle of huge fields, etc. I'd love to explore this barn.
Overlooking part of Kielder from off the road. The fall season was about one to approximately two weeks behind Ontario, so trees were just beginning to change.
Our chauffeur surveying the landscape.
We were stopped for lunch by the side of the road. Jenn was making the most of the WONDERFUL Kitkats with no wax! Ummm, melt in your mouth deliciousness!
Hmmm, wonder where this logging road leads?
Aunt Lynda peering over the bridge.
Once upon a time, in a forest, there was a mushroom... or maybe he was a fungi... and the entrance to his door was guarded by an itsy bitsy spider....
Gorgeous colored something-or-other taking over an old stump.
An old abandoned bench. Wish we'd played around with this a bit more....
When walking through lonely woods, the tourists can get a bit restless. The beards are of organic quality and made fresh to wear. Note: emergency chocolate bar if needed from overwork of metabolism. :p
