Recently I had the opportunity to refinish a bathroom. Originally, it was a light blue, but the ceiling and walls had cracked from the house settling over the years, and there were stains and peeling paint from where the rain had driven in and leaked around the chimney.
After using my finger to smear putty in the cracks on the stucco ceiling, I was able to prick the still-wet putty with the corner of my scraper so as to blend the patch with the rest of the pattern. I caulked along the tile above the bathtub where it met the roof, and gave a fresh coat of paint to the ceiling, door and rest of the trim. Then, I gave the walls two coats of a great-flowing oil paint that you can wash up with warm water!
It was a small bathroom, but definitely took about as much time as a regular room because of all the corners and the two colors. I enjoyed doing it; the only thing I wasn't happy with was the caulking job... my fingers just arn't BIG enough to give an even finish!
The man chose a pale mint green color that reflects the light nicely from the east-facing window.
